James Beck (or Jimmy) was a born entertainer and actor, a man loyal to his friends and family – and devoted to the love of his life, Kay. He touched upon so many; testimony to this are the lovely anecdotes and endearing stories people kindly shared for my book – a tribute to the man who, from the moment I saw him in Dad's Army's platoon, stood out for me. His life was cut short tragically, but what an awful lot Jimmy Beck packed in it!
With the cooperation of James Beck’s family and friends and those that had wonderful memories to share, I endeavour to create a unique insight into a man who never grew up. The charming, handsome man we will always remember, dashing on the screen, joking and smiling.
